Emory Endoscopic Retractor with 10mm Scope Guide
The Emory endoscopic retractor combines tissue retraction and scope guidance in one instrument. Its integrated guide holds a 10mm endoscope, and a compression screw locks the scope in place. In addition, a built-in channel evacuates cautery smoke, so the surgeon keeps a clear view of the pocket throughout the case.
Why surgeons use it
In endoscopic surgery, the assistant must hold both the tissue and the camera steady. This retractor does both jobs, so one hand is free. As a result, the view stays stable while you dissect, and the image does not drift when the assistant tires.
- Integrated guide for 10mm endoscopes
- Compression screw locks the scope in position
- Built-in smoke evacuation channel
- Three blade sizes for different pocket depths
- Ergonomic handle for a secure grip
Applications of the Emory endoscopic retractor
Surgeons use this instrument mainly in endoscopic breast augmentation, especially for transaxillary and subpectoral pocket dissection. It also suits endoscopic abdominoplasty, brow lift and other endoscope-assisted plastic surgery. For background on implant procedures, see the American Society of Plastic Surgeons guide to breast augmentation.
Choosing a blade size
- 120 x 22mm: narrow blade for smaller pockets and tighter access.
- 120 x 25mm: the standard size for most breast pockets.
- 150 x 25mm: longer blade for deep pockets and larger patients.

Care and sterilization
Flush the smoke channel and the scope guide right after use, because blood dries quickly in narrow lumens. Then clean with a soft brush, rinse, dry and autoclave. Our instrument care guide explains each step. For a full endoscopic tray, read our breast augmentation instruments checklist.
