What we collect and why

Information you give us

  • Quote and enquiry forms — your name, company, email address, phone number, country and the details of your enquiry. We use this only to prepare and send your quotation and to follow up on it.
  • Orders — billing and shipping address, contact details and order contents. We use this to fulfil the order, arrange freight and meet our accounting and export-documentation obligations.
  • Account registration — your name, email address and password (stored in hashed form; we never see your password).
  • Correspondence — the content of emails and messages you send us, retained so we can handle your enquiry and any warranty claim.

Information collected automatically

  • Cookies — a session cookie keeps the contents of your cart and keeps you signed in. These are strictly necessary for the site to work.
  • Server logs — your IP address, browser type and the pages you requested, kept for security and troubleshooting.
  • Comments — if you comment on an article, we store the name, email address and IP address you submit, together with an anonymised hash of your email address which may be passed to the Gravatar service to display an avatar.

If you upload images to the site, avoid uploading files with embedded location data, as other visitors can extract it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising purposes. We disclose it only to:

  • Shipping carriers (for example DHL and FedEx), who need the consignee name, address and phone number to deliver your order and to complete customs paperwork;
  • Payment providers and banks, who process your payment. Card details are handled by the payment provider and are never stored on our servers;
  • Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its database on our behalf;
  • Government authorities, where export, customs or tax law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Quote enquiries: retained for up to two years so we can honour repeat pricing.
  • Order and invoice records: retained as long as export and tax law requires.
  • Account data: retained until you ask us to delete the account.
  • Comments and their metadata: retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognised automatically.

Your rights

You may ask us to provide a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct anything inaccurate, or delete it. Requests relating to an order may be limited by the records we are legally required to keep. Registered users can also review and edit their details at any time under My Account.

Security

The site is served over TLS, passwords are stored hashed, and administrative access is restricted to named accounts. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify affected customers promptly if a breach affects their data.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting existing customers will be notified by email.
